Located in a sunny warehouse space at the end of Pier Two on Hickson Road in Walsh Bay, this project aims to create a sun-filled and sustainable office for Grey Interiors. The design firm needed space for three designers as well a waiting room for clients. The client also requested a private meeting room, a break space and kitchen for staff. They also wanted a large window space to best appreciate the view

The sustainable focus of the firm was the guiding factor for the design so the concept became oriented around sustainability and the feeling of nature. I wanted to create an open and airy environment that would encourage mental health and productivity in the workplace.

The faux tree in the centre of the space not only acts as a visual focal point, but also weaves its way up the staircase as a branch balustrade, connecting the ground floor with the mezzanine. Up on the mezzanine floor sit three workstations which overlook the harbour through uninterrupted, frameless glass windows.

Adjacent to the workspace, backed by a recycled timber wall, is an intimate staff kitchen with a barista coffee machine. The use of sustainable materials along with the liberal application of light colours creates a space that is not only functional and reflects the values of the company.
