With a beautiful heritage building in The Rocks as the foundations for this design, the aim of this project was to create a luxurious, high-end French bistro for renowned chef Guillaume Brahimi. Brahimi wanted not only a contemporary and quirky French design, but also wanted to hero the heritage architecture of the building. The design covers two levels and includes a commercial kitchen, bar and restaurant seating and dining area as well as a reception and waiting area to provide a more luxurious experience for guests.

With Brahimi’s current bistros as inspiration I wanted to create a luxurious interior without making the space feel cold and out of reach to many customers. The combination of selected items of furniture, chosen artists and the materials selected for the design, create a lavish interior that feels inviting, warm and comfortable. In order to bring a level of quirkiness to the interior, two carefully selected local graffiti artists were used to create custom artworks for the restaurant that bring colour and interest into the space. The use of modern, contemporary furniture against the heritage space creates an elegant juxtaposition that promotes Brahimi’s quirky aesthetic. By overlaying the existing concrete flooring with reclaimed timber adds warmth to the space as well as complimenting the heritage architecture.
